COVID-19 Emergency Fund

The Sickle Cell Disease Foundation has initiated a donation-based COVID-19 Emergency Fund to support the Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) community in California by raising funds to assist patients and their families who are in financial need during the pandemic.

The Fund will be available for people with SCD and their families who are struggling to pay for food, essential supplies and medications due to the restrictions resulting from COVID-19. Grocery delivery services are just one example of how your donation can help keep our clients healthy and safe.

People with SCD are at a particularly high risk should they become infected with COVID-19 and are therefore strongly encouraged to adhere to the stay at home order enacted in California.

With these concerns in mind, the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation has organized the COVID-19 Emergency Fund to help SCD clients and families cope during this crisis. Many of our SCD clients and their families are struggling to make ends meet, which is why the SCDF COVID-19 Emergency Fund will make a difference in the lives of many of our clients.

Many individuals and families who reach out to us for support services and participate in our programs are already living dangerously close to the poverty line. We want to ensure that we are able to continue on these support services.

If you are an individual living with SCD or a parent of a child with SCD and are in need, you may be eligible for assistance from SCDF COVID-19 Emergency Fund. Guidelines for eligibility requires completion of the application that explains the diagnosis and the need for assistance.

The COVID-19 Emergency Fund is currently accepting donations to meet its $50,000 fundraising goal.

Thank you for your consideration.
