Arthur and Ernestine Reed lived a life filled with joy, tears, and triumphs.

The parents of four children, two of which with Sickle Cell Disease, dedicated themselves to the family they built.

With the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation, Arthur and Ernestine found a place that offered a wealth of information as well as comfort. As young parents with sick children during a time when Sickle Cell Disease was barely acknowledged, the Foundation offered hope not only physically, but also mentally and emotionally.

And the Reeds remained forever grateful.

They believed in Self-Advocacy and that self-pity was a dream killer. They leaned on God as they encouraged all their children to ask questions and to fight for what was best for their own healing.

The loss of these life partners after 64 years of marriage is a heavy one. We honor Arthur and Ernestine’s lives and continue to support the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation that helped them so much over the years.

Thank you, Arthur and Ernestine. An Everlasting love.

Love,

Your Thriving Children,
